Overcoming isolation in land areas and water villages of four municipalities in Delta Amacuro state through technical analysis of the radio spectrum and the design of an HF radiocommunications network. The challenge consisted of deploying a fixed and mobile infrastructure capable of comprehensively supporting the public health network: from patient transport and the transmission of medical data to the control of health statistics and the management of drug shortages.
Beyond optimizing the referral and counter-referral system to ensure the timely transfer of patients between different levels of care, the Codan digital HF radio network was consolidated as a comprehensive operational and epidemiological management platform. Its infrastructure enabled the decentralization and guaranteed continuous flow of critical medical information, the systematic recording of health statistics, and the real-time notification of shortages and supply needs in hard-to-reach areas.
Results
To achieve the health referral and counter-referral system, a set of medical and administrative processes that guarantees the appropriate transfer of a patient between different levels of medical care to ensure their continuous treatment.
